The 9-Grid model of talent management is a well-established methodology utilised to classify employees based on performance and potential. This process represents the basis for people management and informs the HR cycle of processes, e.g., compensation and benefits, and employee relations, for making calculated business decisions. In assessing an employee’s potential, agility dimensions are used as fulfilment indices, since the potential is regarded as a qualitative measure. This, coupled with the quantitative performance metric outcomes, creates the calibration setting to classify employees in the 9-box grid. Based on the type of classification, each employee will have a related action for the organisation to make informed decisions on talent investment and performance-related strategies.
